Waste and plastic pollution has an enormous impact on the local and global environment. The Waste to Art project confronts us all to reflect on the waste in our lives, and what we can do to transition to a more sustainable future. The exhibition gives us some pause to think about the items that are all around us; what they are made from, their purpose; and the value of those materials that would otherwise end up in landfills or littering our waterways.

Don Bosco Technical Institute, Okhla was privileged to have a day set apart for an exhibition and workshop on a topic that concerns everyone on the planet earth. Our students had prepared a number of creative and useful objects from waste materials. There were students from a number of MCD schools and they had come prepared with a lot of materials for the exhibition. The district commissioner Mr. Ashwani Kumar was the chief guest and several assistant commissioners were present as guests of honor. The trainees of our institute were welcomed all by a lively welcome song after which the guests were welcomed with petals of flowers. Fr Sajan, the director of the institute, officially welcomed the guests, staff, and students and he emphasized the importance of waste management to save our environment. The chief guest was really impressed and in his talk, he appreciated the efforts made by the students to create an awareness of waste management. He told the young generation to understand the need of the hour with regard to waste management before it is too late. He went around and visited the exhibition prepared by the students. The students were very happy indeed and they felt motivated and encouraged by the presence of eminent personalities. Mr. Subhash Gautam, one of the officers from MCD, coordinated the entire event beautifully.
