The World Environment Day 2022 global campaign #OnlyOneEarth calls for transformative changes to policies and choices to enable cleaner, greener, and sustainable living in harmony with nature. It focuses on the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature, and our possibilities for shifting to a greener lifestyle through both policies and individual choices.
Keeping in mind the global campaign ‘OnlyOneEarth’, MCD Central Zone organized Mega Waste to Art Workshop & Exhibition to commemorate World Environment Day & Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at Don Bosco Technical Institute on June 7, 2022. The program began at 11.00 a m. Deputy Commissioner Mr Danish Ashraf, IAS, was the chief guest on this occasion of Mega Waste to Art Workshop and Exhibition.
A number of MCD school children and students from Don Bosco took active part in the exhibition. The chief guest and all the participants were welcomed by Dr. Fr. Sajan M George, the Executive Director of Don Bosco. There were two Nukad Nataks presented by BCA students of Don Bosco and SDMC school children which gave an important message to take care of the earthly ambient in which we all live. The Chief Guest went around visiting and interacting with the children and students who made various useful articles made out of waste materials.
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to amateur participants from MCD schools, DBTI and professional artists from Lalit Kala Academy for their unique Waste to Art creation of artifacts.
MCD Central Zone DC Mr. Danish Ashraf addressed the packed audience and commended the participants for their innovation in bringing out various useful articles made out of Waste to uphold the principle of 3Rs.
MCD ADE Mr. Dev Nath Mahto too was appreciative of the effort made by the students to celebrate the day in a fitting manner. The program was concluded at 12.40 with snacks for all those who were present. DDSIL IEC Head, Mr. Subhash Gautam was the Master of Ceremony. He coordinated the entire program very well indeed and at the end he thanked everyone for the cooperation and collaboration which made the day a memorable one.
