Animal welfare refers to the quality of life experienced by an animal in its own environment. Animal welfare is affected by the relationships human beings have with animals and it is our duty to ensure all animals are treated humanely, responsibly, and with respect. To have a better understanding of the subject, Members of the Animal welfare association from Noida gave an input session on the same to the trainees of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Okhla at 2.30 P M on 17th February 2023.
The trainees and staff were privileged to have the group from Noida who highlighted the danger that cruelty to animals poses to the society. Animal abuse in fact gradually leads to human abuse and cruelty. Mrs. Ambika Shukla, director, Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre while taking the session said that in Turkey, animals were saving humans as scores of dogs had been roped in for disaster management. Two student volunteers also shared their experience in taking care of the welfare of animals. At the end of the program it was proposed to start a kindness club in the institute. The response was heartening with several students showing interest. The students even took a pledge to protect animals. The session also pointed out how different animals play an important role in the ecosystem.
Animal Protection has a multi-pronged approach to improving the lives of animals. It is important to create an awareness regarding the protection animals in the wild, creation a better quality of life for animals in farming, rescue of animals in disasters and assisting animals in communities.
There is a need for a robust animal welfare policies ending the use of wild animals for entertainment and the exotic pet. Animal welfare is important because there are so many animals around the world suffering from being used for entertainment, food, medicine, fashion, scientific advancement, and as exotic pets.
The Principal expressed his gratitude to the members of the welfare association for taking the initiative to educate the students on the welfare of animals. Mr. Sanjay Mohapatra took lead in organizing the program. The staff and students expressed satisfaction with the input received. The session ended at 4.00 P M with tea and snacks for everyone.
