This is to inform you with deep sorrow that Fr George Nadackal, former principal of DBTI, Okhla, has gone to his eternal reward early morning on 2nd August 2021due to cancer and other related complications.
Fr. George hails from Athirampuzha, Changanacherry Diocese. He was born on 31.10.1954, to Mariam and Varkey Nadackal and baptized on 16.11.1954.
After completing his SSLC in 1970, he entered the Aspirantate in Bandel, for Calcutta Province. He entered the novitiate in 1973 in Sunnyside, Upper Shillong and made his ?rst profession on 24 May 1974. After his Philosophical and Humanities studies in Salesian College Sonada, he did his Practical Training in Don Bosco Krishnagar (2 years) and Don Bosco Cossipur (1 year). He did his theological studies in Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore from 1980-1984 and was ordained on 28 December 1983 in St. Mary’s Forane Church, Athirampuzha by Archbishop Anthony Padiyara (later Cardinal).
As a priest he spent most of his years in Technical Schools, both qualifying himself in technical studies as well as sharing the responsibility of giving technical education to poor and abandoned youth in Krishnagar and Okhla from 1985 to 2009, when he was appointed to look after street children in Don Bosco Ashalayam. During this period, he completed his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Jamia University, in 2007, securing a Gold Medal. He was two terms Rector in Don Bosco Okhla (2003 - 2009) and two terms in Ashalayam (2009-2015). He also served as Province Leader for two terms as a Member of the Provincial Council from 2006 to 2012.
His pastoral heart always reached out to all his students who remember him with great love. His pastoral love found great expression when he was the Pastor at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Naugatuck, USA, from 2015 to 2019. In 2019 he was appointed Rector and Principal of Don Bosco Lucknow.
It was at Don Bosco Lucknow that he was diagnosed with cancer, for which he received treatment in AIIMS Hospital Delhi. But in the past weeks, he experienced severe headache and he was brought to Delhi and taken to AIIMS Hospital. He developed complications including Covid and the Lord called him to himself on 2 August 2021 early morning at 4.00 am. We accept with resignation, fully believing that the Lord knows best. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.
